WJHS track athletes advance to state

The Waterloo Junior High School boys and girls track teams each placed first in the regional meet at DuQuoin last Tuesday, with several young athletes advancing to state.

Those advancing to state from the WJHS boys team include the 800 meter relay runners Graham Baker, Sam Kreinberg, Nolan Rick and Jack Lawrence. Lawrence also qualified in hurdles.

Other advancing boys are Jackson Ivers (discus, 800 meter relay, 1600 meter relay), Justin Kohler (400 meter relay, 800 meter relay, 800 meter run, 1600 meter relay), Jesse Matthews (400 meter dash, 800 meter relay, 200 meter dash, 1600 meter relay), Devin Rayfield (400 meter relay, 1600 meter relay), Garett Simunich (400 meter relay, 800 meter relay) and Arren Wayland (long jump, 400 meter relay, 100 meter dash).

For the WJHS girls, those advancing to state are Jessica Keller (long jump, 400 meter dash, 800 meter relay), Sydney Luedeman (long jump, hurdles, 400 meter relay, 800 meter relay), Grace Amann (400 meter relay, 1600 meter relay), Emma Stiening (100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 400 meter relay), Sierra Berg (200 meter dash, 400 meter relay), Vivian Ward (1600 meter relay), Jenna Schwartz (1600 meter run), Allie Tuttle (800 meter run, 1600 meter relay), Grace Garner (800 meter run, 1600 meter relay), Amanda Toth (800 meter relay) and Maddy Brown (400 meter run, 800 meter relay).

As reported last week, SPPCS track team members advancing to state are Nathan Feldmeier, Josh Kueker, Max Arbeiter, Elgin Scherff, Gabby Southworth, Nicole Lindsey, Halle Haudrich and Mary Kraus.

In addition, Dupo sixth grader Ryshelle Williams qualified last week for state in the seventh grade 100 meter dash.
