Columbia police, fire and EMS personnel responded about 6:15 p.m. Monday to a two-car crash on Route 3 at North Main Street near Midwest Petroleum.

Police said a 2006 Pontiac driven by a 16-year-old male from St. Louis was traveling north on Route 3 and attempting to turn left onto Sand Bank Road when it was struck by a 2004 Taurus driven by Alexander Severs, 27, of Millstadt, which was traveling south on Route 3.

Both drivers were checked out by ambulance personnel but neither required medical transport. The driver of the Pontiac was cited for failure to yield turning left.
