Vehicle break-ins reported at YMCA

Multiple “smash and grab” vehicle break-ins occurred in the parking lot of the YMCA early Saturday afternoon and are being investigated by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. Easily accessible items like purses and electronics were among the items victims have reported missing.

The windows of five vehicles parked outside the YMCA were broken, with purses and other items reported stolen out of four of the cars. A fifth car had one of its windows partially broken, but no entry was gained. The first calls to police to report the crimes came in sometime after noon.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact the sheriff’s department at 939-8651.
