Multiple departments responded shortly before 3:15 p.m. Tuesday to a residential structure fire in the 1200 block of Blue Spruce Lane off D Road in Columbia.

There were no visible flames upon first responder arrival, but smoke was soon observed inside the two-story dwelling. The basement of the home was then reported to be full of smoke, with fire eventually discovered in a corner of the basement and quickly extinguished.

Smoke was reported in multiple levels of the residence, resulting in a large ventilation effort.

The Columbia, Waterloo and Prairie du Pont fire departments responded to the scene along with Columbia police and EMS. Ameren was also dispatched to the scene.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
