Emergency personnel responded at 10 a.m. Tuesday to a vehicle crash with road blockage and minor injuries on Route 3 at J Road northwest of Red Bud.

Police said a 1998 Buick Lesabre driven by 87-year-old Yvonne G. Shepard of Red Bud was traveling west on J Road and pulled out onto Route 3 turning left, striking a 2023 Cascadia Freightliner driven by Nathan C. Geist, 33, of Hegins, Pa., which was pulling a trailer and traveling south on Route 3.

After striking the rear driver’s side of the trailer, Shepard’s car spun in a circle and came to rest in a ditch along the northbound lane of travel.

Shepard was transported to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County via Monroe County EMS for minor injuries. Geist refused medical treatment.
