Tractor, field fire on South Fork Road

The Waterloo Fire Department responded to a call for help to put out a fire at the farm of Robert Link, 5719 South Fork Road, on Saturday afternoon.

Damage to the field was minimal.  However, while Link was waiting for the fire department to arrive, he attempted to put the fire out with his new New Holland skid loader. Link said the field fire was nearly out when he noticed the skid loader was on fire.

The like-new piece of equipment had only 18 hours of use on it and was heavily damaged by flames before Waterloo firemen could extinguish the blaze.
