Robert H. Schaefer | Obituary

Robert H. Schaefer, 69 years, of Columbia, died Dec. 18, 2023. He was born March 18, 1954, in St. Louis. He was the son of the late Herman A. and Alice E. (nee Koch) Schaefer.

Bob had retired as the plant supervisor with Roessler Ready Mix and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Columbia. He was a great outdoorsman and loved fishing and hunting of any kind. He shared his outdoor passion with all of his family and friends. Time in a side-by-side with him was never wasted. Bob’s lunches with his buddies were always a treat for him. 

Surviving are his sister Sandy Roessler of Columbia; niece Angie (Danny) McMullan; nephews Rob (Melissa) Roessler Jr. and Brad (Deanna) Roessler; great-nieces and great-nephews Crystal, Alicia, Sara, Colin, Olivia, Trey and Tanner; many great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; along with other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his brother-in-law Robert G. Roessler Sr.

Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 23 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Columbia.

A funeral service will follow at the church with Pastor Stephen Krenz officiating. 

Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Columbia. 

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to: The Monroe County Longbeards; or Waterloo Lead Heads.
