Columbia Police

Jan. 13 – Amy Morales, 35, of Millstadt, was arrested for battery at Columbia City Saloon, 1101 Valmeyer Road.

Jan. 24 – Samantha M. Slater, 21, of East Carondelet, was arrested on an in-state warrant and for expired registration on N. Main Street at W. Whiteside Street.

Jerry B. Nelson, 35, of Columbia, was arrested on a Monroe County warrant and for unlawful possession of a hypodermic syringe at 120 Veterans Parkway.

Jan. 26 – David J. Van Toll, 45, of Millstadt, was arrested for DUI, failure to signal, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia at 602 N. Main Street.

Illinois State Police

Jan. 28 – Hecker and St. Clair County emergency responders assisted ISP at the scene of a vehicle crash on Route 156 near Route 159 by Nu Deal Oil just north of Hecker around 6:30 p.m. No other details were available at press time.

Monroe County Sheriff

Jan. 23 – Michael L. Simmons of Columbia went to Belleville Memorial Hospital after his vehicle swerved to miss a deer in the area of 4407 Coxeyville Road around 7:30 p.m. and went off the roadway, striking a post and tree.

Jan. 24 – David Rodenberg of Columbia turned himself in on a body attachment resulting from a judgment against him in civil court.

Jan. 25 – Deputies assisted Red Bud police in searching for a male subject who eluded police on foot following a traffic violation in Randolph County during the evening. Police searched an area of Sportsman Road, but were unable to locate the man.

Jan. 27 – Alex Lavoz, 21, of Waterloo, was arrested for DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper turn signal on Gall Road at Hanover Road.

Jesse Frederick, 31, of Waterloo, was arrested for DUI, no lights when required, and no insurance at Waterloo Commons Drive.
Patches of ice on roadways resulted in multiple minor crashes early Sunday. A Ford F150 driven by a Belleville man slid off Route 156 and into a creek west of C Road in Valmeyer shortly after 6 a.m. A vehicle driving down a curvy driveway on Sweet Briar Lane slid into an electric transformer box around 7:50 a.m., causing a power outage. No injuries were reported.

Jan. 28 – John Crosley, 49, of Waterloo, was arrested for domestic battery on Andy Road.

Waterloo Police

Dec. 29 – Eli Snodgrass, 19, of Fults, was cited for unlawful consumption of alcohol at 620 S. Market Street.

Jan. 22 – Dennis A. Jones Jr., 23, and Ashley L. Wittenbrink, 29, of Swansea, were each charged with felony retail theft following a Jan. 8 incident at Walmart in which two 50-inch TVs were stolen.

Taliaferro L. Slaughter, 39, of Waterloo, was arrested for domestic battery on Illinois Avenue. On Jan. 23, Slaughter was also arrested on a violation of bail bond.

Jan. 23 – Timothy Nezik, 28, of Centralia, was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant out of St. Louis at Route 3 and Park Street.
Joseph Uhls, 30, of Collinsville, was arrested for theft at the Sprint store, 871 N. State Route 3.

Jan. 25 – Scott E. Cooper, 18, and David G. Prader, 18, of Waterloo, were each arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at 505 Bulldog Boulevard.

Jan. 27 – Jeremy Carle, 30, of Waterloo, was arrested for DUI and no registration light on Waterloo Drive at Pautler Place.

Jan. 29 – A patrol car driven by WPD officer Cliff Haddick was lightly clipped on its front end by a Ford truck driven by a male on Route 3 near U-Gas around 9 a.m. The truck went off the roadway to the right and into a ditch. No injuries were reported.
