Hayley K. Krauss, 18, of Columbia, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies assisted the Waterloo Fire Department in responding to a chimney fire at 4525 Sprankel Road near St. Joe around 6:10 p.m. Occupants of the home were able to use a dry chemical extinguisher to put down the fire prior to firefighter arrival. Firemen climbed onto the snow-covered roof using a ladder and examined the chimney to make sure the situation was safe. No damage was reported in the incident.

Sarah Stanka of Waterloo turned herself in on a Monroe County warrant.

Ryan Wuelling of Waterloo was arrested on two Monroe County warrants.

Police assisted the Waterloo Fire Department in responding to a report of smoke in the front area of Ahne’s Bakery, 201 W. Mill Street, around 7 a.m. Waterloo Fire Chief Mark Yeager said a malfunction in one of the light ballasts inside the bakery led to the smoke. Firemen disconnected wires leading to the light fixture, and Ahne’s contacted an electrician to handle the situation.

Dec. 19
Police and EMS handled a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hamacher Street and Osterhage Drive around 8 p.m. One person was treated at the scene for a minor arm injury.
