The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo High School baseball standout Nate Phillips. The senior righthander threw a no-hitter on Thursday in a 5-0 victory over New Athens, striking out 17 batters in the process. For the season, Phillips is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 11 innings pitched. Last season, Phillips went 8-1 with a 1.05 ERA for the Bulldogs.
