The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Valmeyer High School baseball standout Luke Blackwell. The junior is the top hitter for the Pirates this season with an average of .458 and an on base percentage of .562 with three home runs, 12 doubles, 25 runs and 11 RBIs. Blackwell also picked up a pitching win with a solid performance last Tuesday against Steeleville.
