The Life Network of Southern Illinois pregnancy care center announced Friday it has closed on the purchase of its future new home at 722 N. Market Street, the former Waterloo Pizza Hut location.

The building offers 2,800 square feet of space and has 50 parking spots.

The current Life Network office is located at 224 N. Main Street.

Life Network Director Debbie Geist said the great location and single floor building is what the group has been looking for to best serve its clients. Life Network officials hope to have the new facility open for business by later this fall.

Life Network began as the mission of a small group of pro-life Christians to encourage women facing an unplanned pregnancy to consider options like parenting or adoption in lieu of abortion. The group also set out to help those who decide to become parents with supplies and parenting skills.

Life Network was originally incorporated as the Waterloo Crisis Pregnancy Care Center in 1993 and opened its doors on Mill Street in 1995. Later, the name was changed to Loving Touch Pregnancy Care Center in 1998. In 2008, the name Life Network of Southern Illinois was adopted to more appropriately reflect the services offered and appeal to young men as well as women.
