Kuykendall case continued again

Jordan Kuykendall

The case against accused murderer Jordan Kuykendall was continued yet again during a May 21 docket call proceeding at the Monroe County Courthouse.

The next docket call will take place Aug. 13.

Kuykendall is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend, Erin Schneider, in Columbia on June 27, 2013.

He has entered a plea of not guilty in the murder and remains in custody at the Monroe County Jail in Waterloo.

Schneider’s body was discovered in the basement area where Kuykendall resided at 237 South Riebeling Street in Columbia.

Kuykendall was injured in a head-on crash on Route 158 between Columbia and Millstadt the same day Schneider’s body was found inside the home.

In February, Kuykendall’s attorney, Clay St. Clair, filed a motion to permit disclosure of discovery related to this case to a consulting expert.

“In order to adequately prepare for trial and to render effective assistance to the defendant, counsel believes it is necessary to seek advice, counsel and, if appropriate, opinions from one or more experts regarding the defendant’s mental state at all times relevant hereto,” the filing states.

This discovery includes medical records, school records, cell phone records, police reports and materials generated by the Major Case Squad.

The presiding judge in this case, Richard Aguirre, granted the defense motion.
