Jr. high golfers make state

Young golfers from Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic School in Waterloo and Waterloo Junior High School were among those competing Monday in the Southern Illinois Junior High School Athletic Association regional golf tournament Monday at Tamarack Golf Course in Shiloh.

At left is Peyton Kelemtc of SPPCS, who placed second in the girls tourney with a score of 43. She lost on a scorecard playoff for first place with St. Teresa’s Cassie Albertina.

At center are SPPCS golfers Patrick Murphy and Hayden Calvert, who also qualified for the SIJHSAA state meet. Murphy shot a 43 and Calvert shot a 44.

At right is Caden Kite of WJHS, who won the boys tourney with a 38. Also qualifying for state from WJHS was Carter Toenjes (not pictured), who shot a 44. The SIJHSAA Golf State Finals take place May 7 at Rend Lake Gofl Course.
