The Valmeyer Fire Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday to a single-vehicle crash with fire on Route 156 near D Road west of Waterloo.

An arriving fire official said the gas tank was ruptured on the crashed car, resulting in the fire.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which led to Route 156 traffic being backed up temporarily.
