The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Waterloo Buds pitcher Erik Kaiser. The hard-throwing righthander pitched a complete game in Waterloo’s 4-1 upset win over Millstadt in the Mon-Clair League playoffs on Sunday in Belleville. A 2017 Waterloo High School graduate who played for Vanderbilt University, Kaiser went 3-2 with a 2.42 ERA in 26 innings pitched for the Buds during the regular season.
