Eileen A. Stumpf | Obituary

Eileen A. Stumpf, 93, of Columbia, died Feb. 19, 2024, in Columbia. She was born July 8, 1930, in Red Bud, daughter of the late Fred and Ida (nee Faust) Hentis. She was married to the late Norman H. Stumpf, they were married in Red Bud on Sept. 30, 1950. He passed away Nov. 22, 2015.

Eileen had been employed in the ladies department of Dillard’s Department Store, St. Louis. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia. She enjoyed sewing, tending to her flowers and yard, and especially spending time with family and her beloved dorkie, Cappy.

Surviving are her daughter Kathy Fitzgerald of Swansea; son Norman T. Stumpf of Columbia; daughter Tina (Steve) Luhr of Waterloo; grandchildren Joseph Fitzgerald, Patrick (Jess) Fitzgerald and Anne (River) Turner; great-granddaughter Jane; sister Eunice Miller of Red Bud; along with other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her brother, Paul Hentis.

Visitation is 3-5 p.m. Feb. 22 at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia. 

A funeral service will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Bangera officiating. 

Interment will take place at 10:15 a.m. Feb. 23 in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis. 

A funeral procession will leave Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, at 9:55 a.m. 

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to: Family Hospice, Belleville; or St. Paul United Church of Christ, Columbia.
