The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia High School basketball player Eddie Smajic. The senior has gotten off to a strong start this season for the Eagles, averaging nearly 25 points per game. He scored 28 points to lead the Eagles to a win Saturday night over Mater Dei. Smajic is shooting nearly 45 percent from three-point range.
