Early morning police pursuit in Waterloo

Multiple police agencies were involved in a pursuit that occurred early Thursday morning throughout Waterloo.

An Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network broadcast was issued about 4:30 a.m. for a wrong way driver in a black Jeep SUV on Sandalwood Drive passing Fourth Street at about 40 miles per hour.

The pursuit took police to Church Street, Library Street, Main Street, Market Street, Morrison Avenue and Sycamore Drive, among other Waterloo streets, with the suspect vehicle turning its lights off at one point and driving through multiple yards.

The driver was eventually apprehended, police said.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department is handling this case and is expected to provide more details on the incident soon.
