Eagles hockey keeps grinding
The Columbia Eagles claimed a Varsity 1A championship last season in Mississippi Valley Club Hockey Association play.
Gone from that squad are several key players, including the leading scorer and starting goalkeeper.
Still, the Eagles are 3-3-2 in MVHCA play so far this winter, with many more games to go on what is an annual regular season grind at area rinks.
Key players so far for the Eagles in the 2025-26 campaign have been sophomores Kaden Ross and Ryder Kelly.
Ross leads the team in scoring with eight goals and seven assists.
Kelly is now the starting goalie and has shown flashes of brilliance in net.
Other members of the Eagles who look to make their mark on the 2025-26 season include Mason Niedbalski, Jace Bamvakais, Broedy Furlow, Cooper Ruess, Tanner Roessler, Philo Speichinger, Kraig Spisak III, Cam Donjon and Mason Ax.
Key games on the regular season schedule for Columbia include Dec. 16 against O’Fallon, Dec. 18 against Edwardsville, and Jan. 8 against rival Freeburg-Waterloo.
