The Dupo High School girls basketball squad is seeking to improve upon an 8-14 showing last season, with returning players being counted on to lead the way.

Three seniors on Matthew Carpenter’s squad for the 2025-26 campaign are Addie Mitchell, Maryann Imhoff and Lily McMannis. Mitchell is averaging 12 points and 3.7 steals in the early going this season. Imhoff is averaging 11 points per contest. McMannis is averaging nearly six rebounds per contest.

Two returning juniors for the Tigers are Keara Prater and Kaitlyn Roberts.

Also returning is sophomore Kylie Kloess, who is averaging seven rebounds per game in the early going.

A freshman already providing a big role this season for the Tigers is DeMiyah Chairs.

In addition to Chairs, other newcomers expected to contribute are senior Shaylee Messersmith and freshman Rebecca Esser.

“Overall as a team, I expect us to be more competitive in all of our games this year,” Carpenter said. “I think we’ve got a solid group returning with plenty of experience and a couple of newcomers that can help on both ends of the court.”

The strength of this year’s Tigers squad will be defense, Carpenter assessed, while offense might be hard to come by at least early on.

“Defensively, I think we should be tough all around, having to rebound as a team to stay competitive, “ Carpenter said. “Our big struggle again this year will probably be scoring, but in-game experience should help us improve on our team numbers from last season.”

With upperclassmen leading the way, Carpenter is hopeful this year’s Dupo girls hoops squad can top last season’s win total and finish near the top of the conference standings.
