CHS grad joins Millikin Hall of Fame
Millikin University in Decatur honored new inductees to its athletic hall of fame during an induction ceremony held during homecoming weekend.
One such inductee was former Columbia High School softball standout Kalli Farmer Collins.
Collins left her mark as one of the most decorated athletes in Millikin softball history. She posted a .399 career batting average, earned three all-conference honors, and twice led the nation as “toughest to strike out.”
Collins was twice recognized as an Academic All-American, and was named Millikin’s Student Athlete of the Year in 2019.
Collins left a lasting impact on campus outside of athletics. She co-founded and led Fellowship of Christian Athletes, served as Vice President of Phi Kappa Phi, was treasurer of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, and worked as an intern in Millikin’s marketing and media relations department.
A Presidential Scholar, Collins graduated summa cum laude in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management.
Collins earned her master’s degree in marketing and communication from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she now works as a marketing specialist, while also serving her alma mater as an adjunct professor in the Tabor School of Business.
Her induction was a moment of reflection on resilience. Collins lost her senior softball season in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Losing a senior season is small compared to everything else happening in the world, but it’s nice to have this moment to wrap it up in a positive way,” she said during the induction.
She also thanked her family, coaches, teammates, and twin brother Korbin Farmer – also a 2020 Millikin grad – noting “Millikin will always hold a special place in my heart — it’s where I found faith, family, and lifelong friendships.”
