Catherine “Cathy” Ann Evans, 65, of Columbia, died March 29, 2024, at her home in Columbia. She was born Sept. 24, 1958, in Belleville.

Cathy was very active in CASA of St. Louis and the Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis. She had worked for Boeing as an auditor for over twenty five years until her retirement in 2023. She had earned a Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts Management and a Master of Human Services degrees.

She is survived by her son Ryan Evans of Columbia; sisters Sharon (John C. Sr.) Durrer of Waterloo and Linda Robitisch of Columbia; nieces Elizabeth (Leonard) Brooks of Columbia and  Mary Ann Edwards; nephews John C (Tanya) Durrer Jr. of Waterloo and Justin Robitisch of Highland; along with numerous other relatives and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Lorenz John Thoma and mother Aurelia Marie Thoma, husband James Evans and her sister Jean Tiff.

Visitation is 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 4 at Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia. 

A memorial service will follow at the funeral home  with Father Steve Thoma officating. 

Interment will be in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to Baptist Children’s Home Residential Care, Carmi; or Down Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis.
