Man charged in fiery crash

A local man is facing charges following a Friday crash near Valmeyer.

The Valmeyer Fire Department and Monroe County Sheriff’s Department responded shortly before 3:30 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash with fire on Route 156 near D Road west of Waterloo. An arriving fire official said the gas tank was ruptured on the crashed car, resulting in the fire.

No injuries were reported in the incident, but the driver of the crashed Chevy Malibu, Pete M. Goodman, 51, of Waterloo, was charged with aggravated DUI (prior convictions).

Goodman was also charged with three counts of aggravated battery of a peace officer after court information alleges he pushed and shoved an MCSD deputy and two jail corrections officers.
