Tuesday is election day

Monroe County residents will take to the polls Tuesday, as the primary election will determine contested local Republican races for sheriff and county commissioner and statewide races for governor and other offices.

Neal Rohlfing and Joe Brauer are running for sheriff on the Republican ticket, with Tuesday’s winner to face Democrat candidate Dennis Schreder. Bob Elmore and Frank Kohler are running on the Republican ticket for county board, with the winner to face incumbent Democrat Mike Kovarik in November.

The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Call the Monroe County Clerk’s office at 939-8681, ext. 302 for more information. Results will be published in Wednesday’s edition of the Republic-Times newspaper.
