Columbia High School baseball player Josh Fleming is this week’s Republic-Times Athlete of the Week.

The lefty pitched a complete game shutout against Gibault in the Monroe County Tournament semi final game to advance his team to the tournament championship game. The Eagles would later go on to win the tournament and become the Republic-Time Team of the Week. Fleming, a junior, allowed only three hits for the Hawks and didn’t give up a single walk. He also had eight strike outs against Gibault.

Fleming is now 2-1 on the season with one of those wins coming against big school power house O’Fallon. His sole loss is to Althoff where he only gave up one run in the 1-0 CHS defeat. He has played in eight games this season.

The junior has an ERA of 0.43, 10th in the St. Louis area according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch’s cumulative stats. Fleming has delivered 28 “K’s” this season so far.

Congratulations Josh, keep up the good work!
