The Hecker, Red Bud and Waterloo fire departments responded to the scene of a fully engulfed abandoned farmhouse and adjacent barn in the area of J Road near KK Road around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Motorists driving in the area and nearby residents reported flames shooting hundreds of feet in the air and called 911.

The both old farm structures were completely destroyed. The buildings were located well off the roadway in a wooded area and field off J Road.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
