Wednesday crash in Waterloo

The Waterloo Police Department and Monroe County EMS responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries about 4:05 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Route 3 and Plaza Drive.

The vehicles involved were a white Volkswagen sedan and a black Chrysler SUV.

The SUV came to rest on its side against a utility pole near the Scooter’s Coffee drive-thru.

Police said a 2000 Volkswagen Golf driven by Anthony Q. Mitchell, 27, of Waterloo, pulled into traffic from Plaza Drive toward southbound Route 3, striking a 2020 Chrysler 300 driven by Devon R. Hays, 23, of Waterloo, in the rear passenger side. This resulted in the Chrysler veering off the roadway and overturning.

Hays was transported by ambulance to Mercy Hospital South for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
