Two-car crash on Rt. 3 at Illinois Ave.

Waterloo police and Monroe County EMS responded to a two-car crash on Route 3 at Illinois Avenue just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

There was some road blockage reported as a black Pontiac Vibe and a dark-colored Volkswagen collided, with the Vibe resting in a newly poured median. Road construction is underway in that area, where improvements including installation of a stoplight at that intersection are being performed.

Northbound traffic was diverted onto Illinois Avenue and southbound traffic onto Columbia Avenue while tow trucks removed the vehicles. No injuries were reported.

The Volkswagen was driven by Tyler Boren, 24, of Prairie du Rocher. The Pontiac was driven by Mark Kopp, 43, of Waterloo. Boren was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
