Thefts from unlocked vehicles in Waterloo

Waterloo police and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department searched for a subject wearing a hoodie who was seen entering vehicles in the 100 block of Debra Lane early Saturday morning. The incident occurred about 2:20 a.m. Cash was reported missing from one vehicle, and the suspect ran when officers arrived in the area, police said.

An MCSD K-9 unit canvassed the area, but no suspect was located. The suspect was last seen running west from the area of Dale Street.

“We would encourage everyone to keep their vehicles locked, as we tend to have more unlocked car burglaries as the weather warms,” Waterloo Police Chief Jim Trantham said.
