Residential break-in on South Library in Waterloo

A crime scene unit from the Illinois State Police was called in to assist Waterloo police in investigating a possible residential break-in reported at  405 South Library Street shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Forced entry was gained by kicking in a rear door, police said, and initial reports are there was a bullet hole found in a television inside the home. The homeowner told emergency dispatch that a shell casing was found on the floor. It was not immediately known if anything was reported missing from the home. There was nobody home at the time of the alleged incident.
