Columbia Police

March 2

Justin M. Lutz, 36, of Troy, was arrested shortly after 1:45 a.m. for DUI, speeding, no insurance and improper lane usage at Midwest Petroleum, 1553 N. Main Street. 

Brandon J. Wilson, 20, of Columbia, was arrested on a Monroe County warrant. 

March 3

Police assisted Columbia EMS in responding about 1:40 p.m. to a 51-year-old man reporting a hand injury due to a dog bite in the Brellinger subdivision. Police said the man was walking a small dog in that area when a larger dog escaped from a home and attacked his dog. This dog died en route to an animal hospital, police said, after which animal control took custody of the large dog.  

March 5

Brittany Reinhardt Killy, 29, of Columbia, was charged with aggravated battery after allegedly striking a child under the age of 13 years with an object, causing bruising.

Millstadt Police

March 1

Shortly before 4:45 p.m., police responded to the first block of South Breese Street for a report of a hit-and-run crash. A vehicle struck a parked vehicle and left the scene. A witness obtained the registration plate of the suspect vehicle. The driver was later located in Belleville.  Michelle R. Ozee-Young, 56, of Highland, was cited for failure to notify of damaging an unattended vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

March 2

Shortly after 2:05 a.m., Andrew T. Guldner, 45, of Millstadt, was charged with DUI, failure to dim headlights and illegal transportation of alcohol in the 400 block of East Madison Street.

At about 11:20 p.m., Antonio Aguilar-Garcia, 46, of Millstadt, was cited for no valid driver’s license, suspended registration and  no insurance in the 100 block of West Washington Street. Also cited was Martin Torres-Lopez, 40, of Millstadt, for illegal transportation of alcohol (passenger).

March 4

At about 12:05 p.m., Juan E. Caruthers, 39, of East St. Louis, was arrested on an Illinois State Police traffic warrant in the 100 block of East Washington, Street.

Monroe County Sheriff

Feb. 20

Ronald D. Chambliss, 55, of Valmeyer, was charged with domestic battery for allegedly holding the wrists of a family member, causing redness, swelling and bruising. 

Feb. 29

Charles S. Middlesworth, 53, of St. Louis, was charged with DUI at 8:12 p.m. on HH Road at North Market Street in Waterloo. 

March 2

Rance A. Leistler, 36, of Collinsville, was arrested on a Monroe County warrant (leaving the scene) at MotoMart, 409 State Route 3, Waterloo.

March 3

No injuries were reported after a truck struck a brown cow in the roadway on Route 3 near FF Road south of Columbia. 

Valmeyer Police

Feb. 28

Police are investigating nine reports of unlocked vehicles entered in Valmeyer, with money and miscellaneous small items stolen. Shortly after 4:20 a.m., a resident leaving for work observed a subject wearing all black, including a hoodie, and carrying a flashlight in the area of Willow Ridge and Woodland Ridge. A short time later, another caller reported seeing this same subject jump into a silver SUV on North Cedar Bluff and drive off. With Monroe County Sheriff’s Department deputies arriving quickly on scene in an attempt to stop the suspect vehicle, the SUV sped out of Valmeyer onto Bluff Road north into Columbia, where Columbia police also assisted. The SUV then took I-255 north to Exit 9 in Dupo, where it continued at a high rate of speed on Main Street in Dupo and onto Route 3 toward Cahokia, where officers trailing behind eventually lost sight of the vehicle. An Illinois State Police crime scene services responded to assist Valmeyer police with an investigation into the thefts. Anyone with information on these thefts is asked to call 618-935-2131.

Waterloo Police 

Feb. 22

Trevor C. Hudson, 30, of Mt. Vernon, was charged with criminal trespass to property.

March 2

Sydney N. Libera, 26, of Waterloo, was cited about 12:30 a.m. for illegal transportation of alcohol, suspended registration and no insurance on South Moore Street at West Mill Street.
