Open house May 18 for EMS Week

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners approved a proclamation naming May 18-24 as Emergency Medical Services Week. In honor of Emergency Medical Services Week, Monroe County EMS will host an open house Sunday, May 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the ambulance garage.

Ambulance and base tours will be offered along with blood pressure checks, refreshments, and an Arch helicopter visit.

A booster seat program will be presented from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., with a free booster seat given away to attendees with an appropriated age and weight child present.

EMS Week, May 18-24, highlight how ambulance services make a crucial difference in the lives of the community.

Monroe County EMS is staffed by 10 full-time and 20 part-time EMTs and paramedics, a certified billing specialist and a director. The service runs approximately 2,000 calls per year.
