Michael McGarry Miranda Rodenhofer

Waterloo’s Michael McGarry and Columbia’s Miranda Rodenhofer are this week’s Republic-Times Athletes of the Week.

The two high school bowlers won last weekend’s Monroe County Cup.

Rodenhofer took home the first place trophy in the girls tournament, with a 593 total on the day. She helped lead her team to a first place finish at the tournament as well. The Lady Eagles bowling team is currently undefeated, snapping Cahokia’s undefeated season Tuesday at Red Bird Lanes. She carded a team high 632 series, bowling all three games over 200 (204, 205 and 223).

Rodenhofer has the second highest season average to date (191.53) on the Columbia team, behind fellow teammate Becca Krebel (192.93). The two have split the high score honors in team matches so far this season.

McGarry also took home the first place trophy in the boys Monroe County Cup tournament, with a 638 total. He also helped lead his team to a first place finish at the tournament. The Bulldog boys are 7-0 on the season, defeating Metro East Lutheran Tuesday night 37-3. McGarry bowled the match’s high score with a 225. He has had the highest team score in seven out of nine competitions for the Bulldogs so far this season.
