The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that daytime lane closures will take place next week on northbound I-255 at the Columbia exit (Exit 6), approximately two miles east of the Jefferson Barracks Bridge. The lane closures are needed to perform bridge deck repairs, IDOT said.

Weather permitting, the left two lanes of northbound I-255 will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 19, through Wednesday, May 21. There will be no overnight lane closures.

Traffic control devices will be utilized to assist motorists making their way through the work zone. IDOT asks that all motorists be patient, reduce speed, and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout this work zone.
