Millstadt Sister Cities is sponsoring its 25th annual Weihnachtsfest German Christmas Festival on Sunday, Dec. 2, at St. James Parish Center in Millstadt.

Harry Wolf, former leader of the Waterloo German Band, will be honored posthumously for his contributions to Sister Cities programs.

The craft fair opens at 10 a.m. and features holiday gifts, handcrafted jewelry, wax art and decorative items.

Homemade Christmas cookies, including German specialties, will be offered for sale.

German food will be served beginning at 11:30 a.m. 

St. Nikolaus will arrive in a parade at noon, in which civic organizations and businesses are invited to participate. Entertainment will be provided by the Millstadt Community Choir, Waterloo German Band and St. Louis German Cultural Society Jugendgruppe dancers. 

Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available for children. 

A ceremonial German beer keg tapping takes place shortly after the parade.

There is no admission charge to attend. 

Proceeds benefit the Millstadt Sister Cities’ Youth Ambassador Exchange and other programs with Gross-Bieberau, Germany.
