The American Red Cross said that while thousands of donors have answered the call to donate blood, more donors are needed now to help ensure blood types don’t go missing.

During the summer, especially around holidays like Independence Day, donations often don’t keep pace with patient needs.Make an appointment to donate blood by visiting RedCrossBlood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS.

A blood drive will take place July 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia.
