Bats of Southwestern Illinois

September 14, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

By September, bats will have finished raising their young and will be gearing up to leave for their winter grounds. Please Join Vona Kuczynska and Jennifer Mullikin, biologists with Wildheart Ecology, for a fall mist net survey where they will set up nets to catch bats, document species diversity, and teach us about bat migration, hibernation and reproduction.

Event venue is the Paul Wightman Subterranean Nature Preserve, 3325 G Road, Fults. Some hiking on uneven trails in the dark will be required. Closed toe shoes, long sleeves and long pants are strongly recommended. A headlamp or flashlight would be beneficial.

This event is free, open to the public and child friendly. For reservations or more information, contact Clifftop at 618-935-2542 or cliffmbr@htc.net.
