‘The Illinois Big Tree Register Program’ | Clifftop

March 17, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Clifftop presents “In Search of Big Trees: The Illinois Big Tree Register Program” on Saturday, March 17 at the Monroe County Annex, 901 Illinois Avenue, Waterloo.

The event runs from 1-3 p.m.

Whether it is a huge open-grown landscape tree or a towering forest giant, everyone recognizes a big tree when they see one. But how do you know if it is the biggest tree?

The University of Illinois Extension Forestry Program maintains the Illinois Big Tree Register, where lists of the biggest individual for each native tree species in Illinois are kept current.

Chris Evans, U of I Extension forester, will discuss the program, the types of metrics used to measure big trees, and highlight some of the biggest trees in Illinois.

This seminar is free and open to the public. Register to attend by calling 935-2542 or emailing cliffmbr@htc.net by March 15.
