Emergency personnel responded about noon Saturday to a two-vehicle crash on Route 3 southbound at Valmeyer Road in Columbia.

Responding agencies included the Columbia police and fire departments and Columbia EMS.

Police said a maroon 2008 Jeep SUV driven by Donna Carroll, 60, of Fairview Heights, ran a red light while traveling south on Route 3, colliding with the passenger side of a 2020 Buick SUV driven by Linda Whelan, 60, of Columbia, which was turning left from northbound Route 3 onto Valmeyer Road with a green left turn arrow.

Carroll was transported to Mercy Hospital South for treatment of minor injuries. She was cited for disobeying a traffic signal.

Whelan declined medical transport at the scene, as did a male passenger in her vehicle.
