Stolen truck arrest near Hecker

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department arrested a Belleville man following the report of a stolen truck from Red Bud shortly before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Police received a complaint of a reckless driver in a blue Ford F-150 heading north on Route 159. New MCSD Deputy Justin Mendenhall was in the area at that time and located a truck matching the description just south of Hecker at a residence.

Mendenhall almost immediately learned of the stolen truck from a farm on Griggs Road in Randolph County and determined the truck he located was stolen, Monroe County Sheriff Neal Rohlfing said.

Mendenhall took John H. Ellis of Belleville into custody for possession of a stolen vehicle and the truck was returned to the owner, Rohlfing said.
