Shirley M. Schroeder | Obituary

Shirley M. Schroeder (nee Protte), 89, of Waterloo, died Sept. 16, 2015, in St. Louis.

She was born Jan. 4, 1926, in St. Louis, daughter of the late Robert and Hilda Protte (nee Buescher).

Shirley was a member St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo.

She is survived by her children Larry (Judy) Schroeder and Sandra (Michael) Hamby; grandchildren Bob Schroeder, Dina (Dennis) Crider, Andy (Kristi) Schroeder, Scott Siedle, Brooke Hamby, Jeff Hamby andMatthew Hamby; great-grandchildren Jocilyn Crider, Tessa Crider, Jackson Schroeder, Ella Schroeder, Morgan Hamby and Conner Hamby; sister Helen Krieg; niece Kathy Carey; great-niece Marissa Carey; and special friend Susan Naumann.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Herman E. Schroeder.

Visitation is Monday, Sept. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Quernheim Funeral Home, and Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 9 to 10 a.m., at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Waterloo.

A funeral will be Tuesday,  at 10 a.m., at the church, Pastor James Watson officiating.

Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Mehlville, Mo.

As an expression of sympathy memorials may be made to: St. Paul United Church of Christ Music Department or Oak Hill Alzheimer’s Unit.
