Roy A. Candler | Obituary

Roy A. Candler, 67, of Red Bud, died Aug. 30, 2015, in Red Bud.

He was born March 13, 1948, in Red Bud, son of the late James H. and Anna (Kalmer) Candler.

He married Nancy Shields Nov. 23, 1967, in Red Bud.

He was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, American Legion Post 622 in Prairie du Rocher and Illinois Carpenters Local 662.

Survivors include his wife; children Lisa (Matthew) Riechmann of Red Bud, Deborah (Rick) Wood of Valmeyer, Christine (Darren) Griggs of St. Louis, Brian (Sara) Candler of Red Bud, and Randall (fiancee Kara Mathis) Candler of St. Peters, Mo.; siblings Richard (Ruby) Candler of Red Bud, Ronald (JoAnn) Candler of Prairie du Rocher, and Rosemary Wiesen of Red Bud; along with nieces, nephews, cousins friends and his Wednesday night card club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law Harold and Lillian Shields.

Visitation is Sept. 2, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Sept. 3, from 9 to 10:45 a.m., at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home, Red Bud.

A funeral Mass will be said Sept. 3, at 11 a.m., at St. John’s Catholic Church, Red Bud.

Interment will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Red Bud.

Memorials may be made to the family.
