Police Blotter 8/6/14

Columbia Police

July 30 – Shelly M. Brown, 34, of Waterloo, was arrested for DUI and use of unsafe tire on Route 3 at Southwoods Center.

Aug. 2 – Jeff R. Stoecker, 22, of Columbia, was arrested for DUI and driving without lights when required on North Main Street at Temple Street.

Aug. 5 – Columbia police and EMS responded to a vehicle vs. deer crash on northbound Route 3 between Gilmore Lake Road and Hill Castle Road at about 1:45 p.m. The male driver reported a minor hand injury but refused medical transport.

Monroe County Sheriff

July 27 – Mark W. Stegall, 44, of Waterloo, refused medical transport after he swerved to avoid a groundhog in the roadway on Hanover Road west of D Road around 4:40 p.m. while riding a 2007 Harley-Davidson, causing the motorcycle to lose control and leave the roadway, striking a fence.

Tim Reger of St. Louis was arrested on a Monroe County warrant. Christopher Hearn of Waterloo was arrested on a Monroe County warrant.

July 28 – Two more reports of identity theft related to the fraudulent online filing of taxes using social security numbers of Monroe County residents are under investigation.

An attempted burglary at the Valmeyer bus garage is under investigation. Screens were ripped on three windows to the garage, but no entry was gained. A report of criminal damage to property at the Valmeyer school, 300 S. Cedar Bluff Drive, is also under investigation. It appeared someone attempted to siphon gas from the fuel tank at the bus garage, but none was taken.

July 31 – Tiffany Melching of St. Louis was cited for unlawful use of an electronic device while driving on Route 3 at Warren Drive.

Aug. 2 – The reported theft of money from a soda machine at 101 South Main Street in Hecker is under investigation.

Aug. 4 – Kevin Phegley of Waterloo was transported to St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis for treatment of minor injuries sustained when his motorcycle was run off the roadway by a pickup truck driven by Scott Rippelmeyer on Bluff Road north of Baer Road near Valmeyer around 7 p.m. The vehicles did not collide, and no citations were issued.

Valmeyer Police

July 19 – Benjamin D. Grosman, 23, and Marquise J. Holmes, 27, of St. Louis and Mathew A. Smithson, 21, and David L. Smithson, 24, of St. Peters, Mo., were each cited for trespassing after dark on the Salt Lick Trail.

July 29 – Stephanie Bobcik, 28, of Millstadt, and Amy Whittington, 29, of St. Louis, were cited for trespassing at the Valmeyer school.

Waterloo Police

July 31 – Jami Schmidt, 29, of Waterloo, was arrested on a violation of bail bond and issued a city ordinance violation for public intoxication at 101 Debra Lane. Also cited in the incident was Steven Willyard, 26, of Waterloo, for disorderly conduct.

Aug. 1 – Candice Zimmer, 26, of Waterloo, was arrested for domestic battery at 503 South Market Street.
