Hugo P. Cinciripini

Hugo P. Cinciripini, 89, of Waterloo, died April 16, 2015, in Belleville.

He was born in Omaha, Neb.,Ā on Feb, 3, 1926, to the late Alfred Cinciripini and Seconda (nee Spirandelli) Cinciripini.

Hugo grew up in the Italian community of The Hill, with four siblings: Corrado, Josephine, Henry and Alfred.

He was a combat soldier, Intelligence and Reconnaissance Platoon, having served 1944-1946 with the U.S. Army 385th Infantry Regiment, 76th Division. He was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, EAMET Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal (Germany), Combat Infantry Badge, and the Bronze Star for fighting in the Battle of the Bulge.

Hugo owned Apex Printing, but eventually retired and moved to the country — a dream come true. He was a master woodcarver and enjoyed watercolor painting.

Hugo is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Louise (nee Farkas) Cinciripini; daughters Christine Cinciripini of Waterloo, and Michele Cinciripini of St. Louis; brother Henry (Pat) Cinciripini; and nieces, nephews, many kind neighbors and friends.

A cemetery service will take place Monday, April 27, at 11 a.m., atĀ Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Wounded Warrior Project.
