William A. Jacobs

William A. Jacobs, 95, of Colorado, and formerly of Waterloo, died Oct. 16, 2014.

He was born Feb. 27, 1919.

Bill and his wife, Doris, were residents of Waterloo for 36 years, prior to moving to Colorado to be close to their daughter and her family.

Bill retired from Illinois Distributing Company, where he spent over 20 years as a route driver delivering Anheuser-Busch products. He was a World War II veteran in the United States Army Air Core. He was proud to have served his country, often telling many an interesting story about his military service.

Bill was fiercely patriotic, an avid Chicago Cubs fan, a loyal Democrat as well as a proud member of the Teamsters Union, the VFW and American Legion.

He hosted many a barbecue and loved to walk with his neighbors, Virgil Baker and Elsie Branson.

Surviving are his wife, Doris; daughter, Linda Marie Jacobs and her husband, Rick Sublette, and grandchildren Kristen and Robert Sublette of Littleton, Colo.; his niece and her husband, Nancy and Jerry Wilson of Freeburg; his niece and her husband, Pamela and Rick Gulla of The Villages, Fla., his nephews, William Roberts of Belleville; Douglas Roberts of Chicago; his niece and her husband, Tina and Brad McGehee, grandchildren Kayla and Brendon McGehee of Sycamore; his nephews and their wives, Joe and Linda Jacobs of Houston, Texas and John and Mary Jacobs of O’Fallon, plus many more family members and friends.

William A. Jacobs was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Howard Jacobs; sister, Lucille Eldridge; step-brother, Carl Pinion; step-sister, Ann Hetzel; and long-time best friend, Francis Archer.

Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 23 at Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary in Centennial, Colo.

Interment will follow at 12:15 p.m. at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.

Donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or VFW Metzger-Crook Post 6504 in Waterloo.
