Thursday morning injury crash

Police, fire department and EMS personnel responded about 8:15 a.m. Thursday to a two-vehicle crash involving injuries on Route 3 at Hanover Road between Columbia and Waterloo.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department, Monroe County EMS and Waterloo Fire Department assisted Illinois State Police in handling the crash.

ISP said a Ford Edge driven by Wanda Richardson, 40, of Waterloo, turned left from Hanover Road onto Route 3, into the path of a 2001 Mercury Sable driven by Carolyn Pirkle, 71, of Kirkwood, Mo.

Both drivers were transported to St. Louis area hospitals for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.
