Lowell Dalton Jamerson | Obituary

Lowell Dalton Jamerson, 95, of Columbia, died Aug. 9, 2014.

He was born in Springerton to the late Challie and Hattie Jamerson, nee Cushman, on Oct. 14, 1918.

On Aug. 2, 1941 he married the former Mildred Parker, and she preceded him in death on July 9, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Jamerson, and a great-granddaughter, Audrey Lynn Kirsch.

Lowell spent the majority of his life in Fairfield, McLeansboro and Eldorado. He served his country in the armed services during WWII. He was at Omaha Beach and served in the Battle of the Bulge. After 35 years of employment as a lineman, he retired from Wayne-White Electric Co-Operative.

Lowell loved gardening, fishing and attending church services. His greatest joy was found in the service of his Lord and in helping others. He was a long-time member of Gospel Assembly Church, Eldorado and for the past seven years, Gospel Assembly Church in St. Louis.

Surviving family members include two daughters: Karen (Charles) Thompson of Columbia, and Larna (Randy) Kirsch of McLeansboro; five grandchildren: Seth (Mimi) Thompson, Kyle (Cecily) Thompson, Lori (Ben) Anderson, Christopher (Melissa) Kirsch and Caleb Kirsch; six great-grandchildren: Sasha Thompson, Miya Thompson, Damaris Thompson, Damian Thompson, Benjamin Anderson and Luke Anderson. He is also survived by a sister Nelma Ripplinger, as well as nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors.

Visitation will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Eldorado Gospel Assembly Church.

Funeral services will take place at noon Aug. 16 at the church.

Interment will follow in Olive Brach Cemetery in Wayne City.
