The Republic-Times Athlete of the Week is Columbia High School basketball player Karsen Jany. The senior earned tournament MVP honors after leading the Eagles to the Candy Cane Classic title last week at Gibault Catholic High School. On Thursday, Jany scored her 1,000th career point in a non-tourney contest against Breese Central. For the season, Jany is averaging 17.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks per game.
