There was road blockage, entrapment and injuries as a result of the collision, which involved a semi hauling soybeans and a black SUV.

Police said a 1992 Kenwood semi tractor-trailer hauling soybeans driven by Ricky Schmidt, 65, of Waterloo, was traveling northbound on Route 3 and ran the red light at South Main Street, striking a 2018 Chevy SUV driven by Ronald Stark, 65, of Waterloo, which was turning left from South Main Street to southbound Route 3.

Schmidt, who was not injured, was cited for disregarding a traffic control signal.

Stark and a passenger were transported to Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County for treatment of various injuries sustained in the crash.
